Didn't you know I only smiled because of you?
And I was not the one who went away
Just when I thought I was over and done with you
You're back again, now I'm in disarray
You take me higher just by taking me somewhere
A place that takes me far away from here
Where you and I are undiscovered and unimpaired
Every little piece of you held revered
You are the understanding that I need to feel
Safe the day promises might be okay
This world, it hurts so much, there is no time to heal
But you look lovely in all those shades of gray
You remove me from the darkness so abounding
If you fell, I'd lay with you forever
Understanding and not handling, it's astounding
The stars, they faded, but we'll not sever
You are the life in all this death, all these endings
I'll hold on to you and close my eyes tight
I will not go and now the colours are blending
I can feel you again and it's so right
Then the fear takes me over and now I'm awake
I'm bound to everything that is not you
But you're there somewhere, so I know I will not break
Just wanted you to know it's all for you

This is an excellent, emotive piece...The way you expressed yourself is so honest. Like you really put your feelings out there, which can be hard...
I'm glad you decided to share this. The fifth stanza spoke to me the most. Well done.

If i didn't coment on this i'd be a hypocryite in
that i'm only on this site for lesser motives, no
one not even my own wife, would dprive me of the very thing that sustains me, and that's
art it self. this is obviously a beautiful peice of
poetry, well written to say the least, as for it's content very revealing and yet very delicately
expressed with shades of ambiguity never the less, completley effective.
no thanks for the sake of politeness, are necessary.

You're emotions are beautiful, and I've felt them ten fold. They aren't easy by any means. If only loving someone could be simply that. You love them and life is what it's supposed to be. Unfortunately, there are many shades of gray, and we always seem to be tossed right in between them.
I'm glad you've shared this poem.
Take Care,
Lizzie |

Dee, this is very deeply touching. It is hard for me sometimes to post such personal feelings and I commend you for doing so. When you find that someone that makes the world safe and secure for you, there is a trust that will never be broken, no matter where they are. For me, just that knowledge is enough. I thank you for sharing this with us. The last two sentences made it all the more real for me.

I half-smiled when I went to your account page a few days ago and saw the title of this; I'm sure you could have predicted that. =P
This poem, Iunno. In a way there's a little less of that poetic beauty that's in Fall, Never Meant To, and a few others of your best, keeping Shades a bit apart from them in my mental book.
Yet, at the same time, it feels like this one lacks the . . . composure, I guess, to create as much of that beautiful wording. Yours are almost always raw, it's one of the best parts of your poetry, yet here it's almost more rawness than it is poetry-- which, in a fun ironic cyclical way, makes it all the more poetic, all the more really poetry. And I love that, and you excel at that, and it makes Shades of Gray in Cobalt Blue real enough for me to taste, real enough to make me swallow as I read because - because every line of the poem is suffused with the taste on your tongue, the lump you swallowed down your throat as you wrote it, and I can't help but feel that in the reading, it's so pure and unrefined and rightthereonthescreen. And for that, your mastery of poetry's never been better.
Nice job, orange creamsicle. :)
love, just 'cause I haven't commented with that in a while,
Nora

Dee, first of all, I would like you to know I am not commenting just for the sake of commenting.
This is such an emtional write and I think it takes courage for someone to post something like this. You obviously have that courage.
This invokes emotion in different ways. Sadness & happiness, longing and despair.
I can definitely relate to it.
Simply put, it is absolutely very heartfelt, beautiful and sad. You travel an array of emotions in brilliant form.
Thank you very much for sharing and take care.
Tim
