Lost in the mist

Running through the hot land, leaping and dodging obsticles.
Up the pace, keep it going, onward but no destination.
It's a race with no winners and no end on the horizon.
Dangerous place (not half way) to have reservations.
I can see my feet pounding, hear my lungs rasping,
In the race but also apart from, above, beyond it.
No thought of the goal, only the journey forward.
I should keep looking encase others have found it.
No matter where you are on the path there's always distractions,
Which way to turn? How far to go? What will I learn?
Jogging along an uncertain path now it's becoming cooler,
The Mist forms thick and fast as the weather does turn.
Now I can't see my feet and my hands are almost visible.
White silence presses my ears and I feel the smell of water.
In this new setting I'm confused at which direction to take,
the remainder of the race seems to become ever shorter.
I feel lost and alone, though the rest do too,
and I imagine that this white fog does turn blue
the minds of those who wish only to pass through.
My spirit's split, give up/go on, I don't know what I'll do!
