Yesterday is gone, never again is it to be found-
Left behind in the past, forever lost in time-
So often we look back to see the things we misplaced-
And we try to make the future better than the days before…
The pains of yesterday sometimes make us stronger-
For we choose to use caution as we look back and see-
And the more that we try with the passing of each day-
The harder it is to not compare today with days gone by…
The lessons that we have been taught by life in the past-
Keeps the things we look for at arms length and out of reach-
For we have lost the faith that we need to believe in another-
And the things we wish to be true so seldom do we see as so…
Yesterday is no more, yet it shades the sunshine of today-
Forever lingering about to hold tomorrow at bay in its darkness-
For the storms of days long since passed by and lost in time-
Have left scars upon the heart that cause the light to fade…
We seek resolve to the things that we have yet to understand-
But all we find are questions without the answers that we need-
For the past that we look to for the things we wish to know-
Is lost forever in time and like me is held at arms length…

Yesterday is gone and cannot be altered. But if you care for someone enough you can take what you learned, face the fear of repeat failure and try again. Love is the only thing in life I can think of that is worth chancing over and over again if you can find the right one. People do change and sometimes do realize what they lost. I wish you strength and success and much love. Excellent poem.
Smiles,
Rita |
