Don't Fear the Night

Contributed by wachumiri on Saturday, 20th August 2005 @ 01:38:19 AM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

Inside your room by failing light
You try to sleep through bitter night

But shadows creep inside your dreams
Your inner soul in silence screams

A scream of terror, inner fright
You fear the wanderers of the night

But still a battle rages on
Your spirit wrestles ‘til the dawn

Inside your soul, a sheltered light
Shines out to break the darkest night

A candle boasting brilliant flame
Can surely any darkness tame

I’ll pray for you, God grant His light
To help you sleep in troubled night

Your work sounds much better off the page in two-line stanzas like this than in short four-liners. It's true that format is a whole realm of importance for written/read poetry.

Keep it up.

Andrew

You have written a very awesome poem here.

"Do not let the noise distract you from my voice
Do not give in to the scary choice
Child I love you from my very heart
And I will protect you from the dark"

From Lullaby

You show a writing style that brings peace to the reader. Thanks

Great piece you've written here, and your short stanzas each have a memorable line that will most definitely linger in my head, most notably the second-to-last one, which I find to be the most interesting of them all. Wonderful.

I like the ending to this. Is there nothing more touching than someone saying they will pray for you?

A wonderful, lilting quality, half lullaby half prayer of protection - all poem. Nice one.
