Broken Little Princess

Contributed by Kitty06 on Friday, 19th August 2005 @ 08:21:50 PM in AEST
Topic: anguished

Night falls and I bury my sorrows in my pillow
The moon is cold and offers no compassion
I stare at the ceiling as tears drip down and melt into my hair
I curse them because it just isn’t fair

I scream my rage and my hatred underwater
The bubbles carry my harsh words away
The poison slowly seeps out from me
But more keeps boiling up from inside

I wish upon every star in the night sky
But every day my wish is denied
My friends try their best to cheer me up
But it’s useless as long as I’m dragging this bleeding broken heart around

I’ve been strapped to a leash too tight and too short
My heart has been cut out and butchered for a strange purpose
They don’t know what’s best for me
If they did they wouldn’t be slowly killing me like this

My window to freedom seems to be slammed shut
Never to open and give me the new breath I need
To fly away from here would be a dream come true
To rewind to last month or fast forward to four years from now would be a happy beginning

But I fear this is the end, and a sad ending at that
My spirit so wild before is now timid and weak
My eyes are dull and the in them has disappeared
My love I’m so sorry, this is just to much to bear

Please forgive me, for both of us I must spare
I breath my last breath of my being
My hair starts to die and fall out
I am no more, a zombie, a shell

My spirit escaped this hell
Good bye my love
There is no one else I will ever love
At the bottom of the stairs is a broken body:
MINE

Life is made up of hundreds of phases, and this poem shows you know that when you say about going forward four years. You never know what the future holds and it is seldom the same as yesterday. A brilliant write, well done!

  • A very emotional piece..
Loving the flow, and the many metaphors contained within.

I particularly like this line - for reasons undefined:

"The bubbles carry my harsh words away"

    Powerful stuff, keep writing!

    Hope,
    ~KayT

I almost don't know what to say after reading something like this.
    It's so raw and heartfelt.
You did an amazing job describing your emotions.

    God Bless,
    Lizzie
