It’s one of those nights
When you just want to throw your head
And drown with the stars.
You hear gunshots.
A trauma.
And you just want that certain hand on your arm.
A tight grip.
A safety measure.
Call me sweetheart
Then tear me apart.
Hoping to make you my dance partner,
Yet you don’t enjoy anything else
But stare at the passing cars.
I’d hate to see you get hurt
Yet you seem to be very good on doing that to me.
Assume that everything is about you,
And for you,
Yet do not flatter yourself.
I am apathetic.
I am quixotic.
I am selfish.
I am constantly whining.
I see your face behind the post.
Why are you hiding from me?
We are misunderstood.
I wanted the wind to blow my head off
And bring with it my thoughts of you.
You broke down into tears
As the carousel starts to turn.
In the sidelines,
The angels cheered for your return.
The birds long for the view of Northern skies.
Yet their frozen wings betray their burning hearts.
You will not look back
Nor will you watch me as I walk in the dark.
You think the raindrops will protect me
And no hand will pull me.
Gone.
The yellow wings of the sun will not come out tomorrow.
They have decided to forever sleep with you.
Fingers longing for security…
A proof of existence that this event is ours;
It happened and will be remembered.
The satellites will fall from the heavens
Just to witness this love story.
The disappointed kid will cry and walk away.
Our eyes may grow old
And ships will sail around the world.
This atoll will not sink.
It will stay for you and me.
I almost had you.
