Repost - My Friends Daughter - PLEASE READ THIS

Contributed by juliette on Tuesday, 16th August 2005 @ 09:53:59 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

AND SHE NEVER MADE A BIG FUSS ABOUT HAVING WRITTEN THIS - AND I JUST WANT TO POINT OUT THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO TOUCH OUR LIVES AT MOMENTS WHEN WE ARE LEAST THINKING WE ARE IN NEED, PEOPLE WHO SEE DEEP INTO US EVEN WHEN WE ARE AIMING TO KEEP THEM IN THE DARK, PEOPLE WHO CLIMB INTO OUR HEARTS AND JUST NEVER LEAVE.............nOBODY HAS EVER DONE ANYTHING HALF AS SPECIAL AS THIS FOR ME.............THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART HUN! I LOVE YOU!

(This is a poem about my best friends baby girl that passed away)

I decided to stop by, it was on my way home
to give her the blanket my aunt had sewn.
She was lying there sleeping and she looked so sweet
I didn't wake her up, I just kissed her cheek.

I remember the call I got the next day.
Her mother told me she had passed away.
All I could do was sit there and cry.
I couldn't believe my Hannah had died.

She was like my own child, I loved her so.
It was hard for me to let her go.
But I tried to be strong and not cry for Sam.
To be there for her and hold her hand.

It's been a year now since she has passed,
but her memory in my mind will last.
I think of her often and I am glad,
to have those moments with the daughter I never had.

Juliette, Thank you for reposting and giving us all a chance to experience this. For me it is a heartwrenching poem that hits too close to home. One thing I learned though, was that a baby that stays in this world for a short time generates more love then most adults can in a lifetime. Hannah was special and she'll always be remembered and celebrated in your heart.

Peace and Hugs, john

Juliette I think this is such a courageous poem about a loss I personally find difficult to even think about in my capacity as a father.

Poetry I think is such a wonderful medium for expressing thoughts and feelings of the most profound kind.

Bravo

Colin

Wow... this is powerful. There is no way I could possibly comprehend the pain. Impossible. I'm sorry just doesn't say it.
Heartfelt.
Take care.
