The Promised Land

Contributed by darkhorse71 on Tuesday, 16th August 2005 @ 02:30:19 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

You're the one who makes me happy,
you put my soul at rest.
You're the one who makes my dreams come true,
you make my life the best.

For all you do, you think it's nil,
oh, the wonders you don’t see.
The things you do as ordinary
Work miracles on me.

You make my heart so light and free,
no matter the pressures I feel.
I think of you and then I know
this peace I have inside is real.

So honey, when you're ready
put your heart into my hand,
and let me gently guide you
into the promised land.
Where I promise I'll be faithful,
and I promise I'll be true;
and I promise to give you all that I have
to make all your dreams come true.

I'm not like any other
who has hurt you through the years,
I want to take away your pain,
and not cause you any tears.

You made the spark in my heart come back,
the light in my soul grow bright.
No longer am I alone in this world,
the hope of you makes everything right.

So honey, when you're ready
put your heart into my hand,
and let me gently guide you
into the promised land.
Where I promise I'll be faithful,
and I promise I'll be true;
and I promise to give you all that I have,
to make all your dreams come true.

Sounds as if someone may have been bitten by the love bug...Your write was most sincere, straight from the heart. I hope things work out in your favor, and the promises you've made in your write are returned to you ten-fold. Nicely done John.

(First, thank you for the kind message)

And now as for this poem......it is dreamy.......and what a great thing about poetry huh? That you can walk right out of yourself and into a world someone else has imagined, lived, or longs for......I follow certain poets on this sight, as I am drawn to their style of writing, extensive vocabulary, creativity, and sometimes....even their dreams! I am going to have to watch for your work from now on! Thanks for sharing!

Wonderful. Beautifully written..

Nice promises too. I can feel the honesty of your heart..

Smoothe flowing write here. yes, faithful write..

*****So honey, when you're ready
put your heart into my hand,
and let me gently guide you
into the promised land.
Where I promise I'll be faithful,
and I promise I'll be true;
and I promise to give you all that I have
to make all your dreams come true.

This write put my soul at rest too..

This is a great song to describe your poem:

"I know you've been hurt
I know your love shy
believe when I tell you baby
It's gonna take some time
You got me heart
in the palm of your hand
and it's gonna stay there baby
give me half a chance"

Quote from "Sole Provider" by Michael Bolton

Your poem has the same type of qualities as the song I quoted. I think you would be faithful to your love and have a deep true heart that is ready to give. Great write.
