MY MOST PRECIOUS FRIEND
When it is you write, teach
me kindness & revelry.
Honor the poets who wrote
before me, beauteous poetry.
Rage if you must, speak softly,
offend no one my friend.
Master my words, for downtrodden,
persecuted, defend.
Speak of nature's wonders,
with crafting streamline.
Giving credit to a Marvelous
Creator's design!
Many false gods do we see,
most hate and destroy.
Be inspirational, always helping
others to find joy.
Hand in hand together we've
endured travesties.
My heart was always opened up to you,
years now are sixties.
You've never left me once,
always by my side, to reside, provide,
helping me to decide, untried.
In all kinds of weather, warm
and sun shining grey
Your attribute of loyalty,
impressed me to stay,
not stray!
You were there when I fell
to my knees, futile prayer.
Out of pure desperation,
I held you tight, to suffer.
Cross them out, do it right,
words of superior excellence
Profanity dismissed, replaced
instead, for silence.
Fallen, follows empathy,
forgiveness, sympathy
Reasonableness, not dogmatic,
refreshing, not filthy!
The needs of our time
concentrate, do not berate.
A world without love,
and goodness, not orate.
Helping those lost, hearts hardened
out of lawlessness.
Encourage loving ways, up-building,
with courageous boldness.
How could I ever find the wisdom or the word,
to thank you for confidentiality of all my
emotions you never once blurred,
but captured.
The relief your friendship
meant as I related sadness, loss,
betrayal, bad following bad grated!
Small victories, elated with
joyfulness and glee.
Seeing the end in sight just you and me.....
remembered, for all eternity.
I will always be indebted to you,
my most precious friend,
My Pen!

Yes.. I guessed.. Your pen has rather intelligent power stuck to the palm of your hands and fingers.
Bless you Consue for this wonderful reminder when we sometimes get so caught up in our own selves.. the mighty pen brings us to reality.. as we read truths written by mankind.
I love this write.. it flows, it speaks, its real..

I kinda did guess before the end, but that makes this no less an excellent write. How good a friend the pen is also depends on the poet themselves -- but I see yours is a warm and lasting friendship that you richly deserve.
Excellent work, Consue! I enjoyed the reading.
Blessings, J. |

Great read! I share those feelings equally with my "friend". Even though I havnt been writing as long as you I can tell the love of poetry can be shared be all different races and ages. Thank you for this work of art and while I have you here, I might as well tell you...That my real name is Darnell Brown and I am the author of “City Limits”, a poetry book that I’ve written (go to www.citylimitsthebook.com to check out my site, there’s a place where poets can get their work posted exclusively on their own page and maybe dedicate it to someone) One of the reasons I posted this message is to let you know that I’m starting a magazine called “When The Pen Hits The Pad” and it’s going to be a place where artists, by that I mean more than just poets but writers, scriptwriters, painters, photographers etc. where they can have their work out there for people to see and possibly put them with people who can help them get to where they want to go. If you are interested in being a part of our first issue, send me and email to thewordzwithin@yahoo.com and tell me what you think and what you want to summit Tell all your friends who might be interested and keep up the good work!!!!!!! |
