Victim of Divorce

Contributed by darkhorse71 on Monday, 15th August 2005 @ 01:45:35 AM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

Little one, oh please don't fret,
life's too short to be upset.
I am your father, I love you, I care.
Come to me with your burdens to share.

My all is in you, for you are my life,
so please come to me, don't be riddled with strife.
I want to help you to learn and to grow,
there's so many things I want you to know.

Life can be happy or life can be cruel,
use your troubles for they are a tool
in helping you to take a stand,
in helping you to become a man.

It grieves me now that I must go,
there's so little time to let you know
how much I need you, love you, care;
and no time left these things to share.

I think of all that I will miss,
the first of everything on your list.
It pains me so, I really loathe
that I'll never see your daily growth.

Please be kind in your thoughts with me,
I pray someday that you will see
that I didn't mean to hurt you son,
we were a team, we lived as one.

I didn't want to leave from you,
believe my words for they are true.
My heart is broken and it's crying,
life is for loving, and loving is trying.

my parents divorced after i was 18, but I remember the fights from a much younger age... I've come to realize that they both had themselves to think about and I've come to understand it. Im sure as time passes you son will understand your needs as well. great write! A++++

I come from a divorced family since i was little and the best advice that was given to me and your son should know also b/c it helped me is that even though that you and his mom got divorced that the both of you still love him unconditionally and that it wasn't his fault whatsoever. Its also in a way better b/c then he doesn't have to continue grow up listening and watching the fighting and all that attention that you would both be using on fighting can be more spent on him. Good luck and hope everything goes good. just my opinion

Beautiful... just beautiful...
I am sure as he grows older he will understand..
My parents divorced when i was 25 and was really hard on me then because all my childhood there was so much arguing and fighting i pray for it then.. When i got older and married thought everything was ok..
Needless to say I was wrong.. But,I only wish they would have divorced back then being a child living in a home of saddness is not healthy..
So, I must say You did what was best for the kids i commend you..My Heart goes out to you
Hugggggggggggggs

Divorce is so very painful, especially when children are involved. My parents divorce started when I was 3 and the court battles for one thing or another did not end until I was almost 19 and had moved away from home. Your children will one day come to understand and formulate their own opnions. You did what you had to do and for now that will be hard for them to comprehend. I am well into my thirties now and still remember vividly everything that happened over the years, but the one thing I remember most now, is that throughout everything, my parents loved me unconditionally. You just be yourself and stay involved with them as much as you can. Life has a funny way of workin itself out! I applaud you for showing your children how much you care in such a beautiful way. It's something they will take with them forever. Bless!
