Gone are the days of terrible woe
When fearful wrath rang true
Abandoned was truth so vile, bewitched
In favour of honour, although transfixed
Was beacon of life and faith and hope renewed
In darkness we searched for light unpossessed
By wisdom with taste bitter-sweet
But life without death eventually failed
And hope without deceit prevailed
And the loneliness of The Watcher's gaze
Our eyes did finally meet
The Watcher's love was fair and true,
Though seldom faith returned
We knew of evil, fear and hate
And warning never mild or late
But the apple was ripe, the axe was sharp
And the Watcher's gaze was burned
We saw the Watcher's injuries
But we never felt his pain
So we rejected our absolution
And revelled in our evolution
And we washed our hands in rivers of blood
While the storm-crow cried in vain
