My Princess

Contributed by Darkhorse71 on Sunday, 14th August 2005 @ 10:22:23 AM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

I knew a little baby
who was precious as could be,
I helped her come into this world;
she means so much to me.

But she started growing bigger
and crawling all about,
and when she took her first few steps
her face was full of doubt.

I remember her at Christmas time
just gazing at the tree;
her innocent eyes so filled with joy,
her youthful heart so free.

I called this child my princess,
the ruler of my heart.
Whenever she walked into the room
my soul would give a start.

By now she's gotten older,
and her youth is passing fast.
There's so much I have yet to do,
I've got to make it last.

My princess is so wonderful,
I love her more each day.
Her laugh is such a joy to hear,
I long to make it stay.

And now my princess has grown up
into a beautiful woman for sure.
One day she'll find that special love
for which there is no cure.

Yes, I know the day is coming
when my baby will decide
that there's a special fellow
in which she will confide.

And then my princess will be gone
but we'll never be far apart;
for no matter where my princess lives
her castle will always be here in my heart.

This is very endearing. I don't know what I would do without my son.

Just Beautiful I have to agree they grow so fast..
God's precious gifts to us.. You seem to be a wonderful Poet and Father..
My Favorite part is:
I called this child my princess,
the ruler of my heart.
Whenever she walked into the room
my soul would give a start.
Write on...

So beautifully written and much needed by your daughter I'm sure. I remember how hard it was to understand my parents divorce and just how reassuring it was to know that my parents loved me and it wasn't because of something I might have done. My son struggles with the same thing everyday and sometimes all we can do is just let them know that they are loved no matter what! Nice job.
