My Sweet Mary

Topic: dedicatedpoems

did it ever last this long the miss
of that everbeautiful woman and her kiss
that breath that i soaked in day dreamming
i never thought one day that she would be leaving

i never stopped to think of what could happen
i was caught in the moment i had to grasp it
but taking her own life i never even dreammed
and all the world in me died, or so it seemed

my tears fell that night and long after
no matter the tears i would never taste her again
she was my world and everything that i ever wanted
she was my lover and my most precious friend

i mourn at times but my pain is not forgotten
and i think of it now her body underground, rotten
but i cant think of it now, i must be happy not sad
and all of this suppressing is making me go mad

my dear dear sweet mary, come back
i will be there always and i wont hurt you ever
just kiss me again and say i love you one last time
we could lay asleep together forever

...I Love You

I can relate.

I lost a good friend to suicide. I still wonder why and if I could have done anything to stop it:(
