I Do doesn't mean DOA

Grief

under covering arms, you cower and wait
a quick peek just to see if he's still here
the change wasn't noticed until far too late
and now your pretty face is one of bloody fear
what was it this time that was 'so damn wrong'
a towel out of place, perhaps food perceived cold
what does it matter when it lasts this long
and the way you're hurt, you may never grow old
life wasn't always just 'walking into a door'
someonce, so long ago, it was warm and sweet
but... trying to get up from the cold, hard floor
now you've become a tenderized piece of meat
'you know i love you'; that tired, old, familiar lie
'i just get a little upset'; can't believe that was said
'all i want is for us to be happy'; placing ice on your eye
his caring just may cripple you, more likely leave you dead
beneath the swelling, past all the unimaginable pain
those dreams behind that faded smile still thrive
please choose to never let this happen ever again
get up...get out...NOW... while your still alive
worry not about those things that keep you here
just minor things that cost you way too much
leave and live, shed not another bruised tear
love never has hateful anger for it's touch

Wow, not sure I have the words to express the feelings this write conjured up. Memories I thought I had put to rest long ago.
Glad you saw the light.
*hugs*

Very good write. Very good. I have been in this position, I got out. I vowed never to let another man hurt me ever again. And I haven't. All women should go through self defense classes, I did through my work. I think they should teach it to girls in school. You never know when you might need to protect yourself from some ass. No woman should ever have to put up with that. Peace to you. Laura |

Real love does not hurt physically or mentally. It does not leave scars, bruises, broken bones, or traumatic stress disorder. It does not leave emotionally wounded children. And as you said, it does not leave you DOA. Excellent write.
