Purple mountain haze
I see it everyday
I think of you
My love
Your love
Together shared
Over many miles
It never stopped
It will never stop
My life near an early end when we met
Going to the depths of darkness
You found me
You pulled my life from the gutter
I saw the purple mountain haze
A shot through the heart
With the blue lightning bolt of truth
A new lease on life with the red sword of passion
I walked away from the end
You taught me love
It was real
I felt it for the first time ever
The girl from my dreams
I never expected
So close
So many miles apart
I felt your heart beating with mine
We shared our pains physically
It felt like you were everything
My world to me
That's why I ran to you
We were seperated
I was made to leave
The church
The town
Your life
But in my heart you stayed
Until your soul left for
The purple mountain haze
You're still here though
Even though you're gone
I felt everything
I died with you
Not physically
I cried
For the first time
I was never allowed to before
You took my heart with you
Into the spirit world
Hidden in the purple mountain haze
But I see you there
It killed me
I wasn't there that day
To usher you in the right way
Couldn't be by your side
Take your hand
Take you in my arms
Before you set out for the purple mountain haze
I didn't get to say I love you girl
I didn't get to tell you goodbye
