Mommy Don't cry!

Contributed by LOWMAN613 on Monday, 13th January 2003 @ 08:20:00 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Mommy why do you cry,
Is it something I did,
next time I will try,
To be a better kid,

Is it daddy, did he upset you,
what else could it be,
what can I do?
to make you happy?

I don't like to you see cry,
it makes you look so sad,
Please Mommy tell me why,
Who made you so mad?

If its not us kids,as you say,
and Daddy did nothing too,
than why you cry most of the day,
who is hurting you?

We give you hugs & lots of love,
that always helps me,
I even asked God above,
but the pain I still see,

I don't know what 'depression" is,
can you give me a clue,
will it go away with a kiss,
how can we help you?

I'll clean my room & listen more,
if it will make you smile,
I want my mommy like before,
If even for a while,

I don't know about bills & such,
is that a sort of pain?
I want to help you oh so much,
but whats this word"Insane"?

I wish I could make it all go away,
like you do for us,
your hugs make everything ok,
with out much little fuss,

you don't want to play any more,
you just sit & cry,
weeping on the kitchen floor,
are you going to die?

I don't know what I can do,
but I will always try,
For Mommy we all love you,
OH please don't start to cry!

Oh dear Christina it's hard when our children see our pain but i think it's important to share with a family how you feel...some things children don't need to know....but when you can be open with them and let them know what's wrong as much as you possibly can....then they better understand what's wrong....my friend this made me cry as well as the first one i read this morning of yours....you just remember where all your strengths lay....this is a beautiful poem and very sad....

I may not have children, but I know depression all too well. I am also a child who has been in this situation. Christina I do hope things get better for you like a line from one of my poems says "for every sky that's gray...another will turn blue" keep searching for the blue skies hon and they will find you eventually. Great poem..thanks for sharing.

  • awwwwww im meant to be at school right now, but i hurt my leg at athletics day yesterday and it hurts so much i feel like crying but i just cant. this poem is so beautifully written and moving that it made me cry and i feel so much better now. i know exactly what depression feels like, i am still suffering from it and so have 2 of my sisters. from the words of my oldest sister who has suffered from it "you will get through it with time, support, love and determination not to let it overcome you. look after urself and i know that you will be allright. once again a beautiful tear-jerking poem.
