Take Flight (a virelai)

Contributed by springchic1979 on Thursday, 11th August 2005 @ 08:32:25 PM in AEST
Topic: surreal

In the dark of night
Beneath the starlight
Lies me.
I take such delight
Within this new sight.
Tiny
Sparkling dots of white;
Stars burning so bright.
I see

Specks in a vast sea.
I wish I could be
Up there.
I have to decree
My state of pure glee
Up where
I would feel so free;
Where the sky meets thee,
Night Air.

Nothing could compare
To feelings we'd share
Despite
The moon who does bare
Her pain and despair;
Contrite.
It's the stars who care.
Their approving stare-
Invite.

All this does excite
And strengthen my plight.
Truly
I feel fires ignite!
With no trails of slight
Debris
We'd soar to new height-
No limits or tight
Bound'ry.

I hope you'll agree
To throw 'way your key
And spare.
Leave your bonds, foresee
With all certainty.
Declare
Your new found esprit
And see vividly!
Prepare

To break solitaire.
Take my hand; repair
Our right
To unite a pair
With a love so rare.
Tonight
Choose to take a dare
Live life with some flare,
Take flight.
