Scenery of A Liar’s Ship

As we met at the crossroads,
You showed me the way.
It was a narrow one way street,
Leading straight to the grave.
You said we couldn’t go wrong,
Well I’d say we were never right.
It was all just sweet serenades,
In the dead of that night.
The ships have set sail,
And they’re never coming home.
You saw me stare in disbelief,
As they left me all alone.
I watched you shrink into the distance,
Bid soft farewells you never meant.
To the sound of the tear of old letters,
Thoughts crept into minds of the captain’s men.
“Who was that struggling shadow?
A troubled fellow I’ll admit,
Pity he stands there slowly dying.”
But they didn’t know the half of it.
I was such a child,
So many things I should have known.
But that child again I’ll never be,
Few youthful souls lie underground.
