Silent Screams

Contributed by fromhopes2hopeless on Thursday, 11th August 2005 @ 01:40:18 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

We run these same races
At the same paces
Time and distance put us at two different places

So, look to the sky and we see the same stars
But no matter how loud I scream, space won't let you hear me.

I'm screaming "I love you's" to the top of my lungs,
While gasping for a new breath of life.

These silent screams have gone unnoticed,
So put time and space aside for a moment,
Sit with me on this cloud, until death do us part
And I'll pull down the stars for you

This poem really describes long distance relationships (or just plain being away from someone). I love the line,

"So, look to the sky and we see the same stars
But no matter how loud I scream, space won't let you hear me."

It really puts things in perspective and pretty much sums up the poem. You can feel so close to a person, but yet be so far away. I love your ending line as well, and how it goes back to something mentioned above in the poem.

Keep writing

- Julie

This is a great poem. Long distance takes a lot of work from both sides. Sadly usually one side gives up before the other does.

Wow~ I can really relate to this write being that I have been involved in a long distance relationship now for almost a year. Awaiting next month when we will be together permanently. Can't tell you how many times I have felt like this paritcular line in your write:

I'm screaming "I love you's" to the top of my lungs,
While gasping for a new breath of life.

Good write, and I hope you're not apart for too long.

~Blue~

Great write, I especially liked *I'm screaming "I love you's" to the top of my lungs,
While gasping for a new breath of life.*

Many of us have been there.
