woman smiling, remembering,
large snowflakes idily falling,
walking through the busy city streets,
passerbys smiling back
(do they notice the after-glow? she thinks)
still the sound of the piper lingers...
subway platform, going west,
gnome-like ponytailed old hippy tells her
2003 will be a very, very good year for you.
( a prophecy? or the very worst of pickup lines? she thinks)
still the sound of the piper lingers...
small Yorkville cafe with a pot of tea,
gorgeous man at the next table smiles,
ambrosia pie here is absolutely delicious
let me get you some.
(giving off some powerful vibes today, she thinks)
still the sound of the piper lingers...
Dora Keogh's, by the fire, live traditional music being played,
Hi ya, he says smiling, another pint?
please, she says
been waiting long?
with the shake of her head
(she thinks, had seemed like forever, my poetic blues-harp player)
the sound of the piper has ceased....for now...........

Roisin, this is absolutely spell-binding. A superb style of write too. I'm awed. If you go back to Ireland I will mourn not reading your incredibly beautiful poems anymore. I fear, though, the sound of the piper has not ceased, and may never. |

Beautiful... I really liked this one... I have never been to Ireland... but the sound of the piper haunts me all the same... someday I'll go home. |

Rosie, this one drew me in as well. Such an enchanting picture. So do you still hear the piper?
