Alive Again

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Tuesday, 9th August 2005 @ 11:45:06 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

If it wasn't for you
I'd still be here
stuck day after day
in this small town
where everyone knows my face
just can't seem to remember my name

I'd still be here doing
the same old thing
in the same old place
Just really surviving
day after day

Always hoping and dreaming
secretly wishing
Felt there was much more for me
What though?
I did not quite know

Always had this restless feeling
wanting to go wherever the warm
winds did blow
Then you came to my town, baby
Like a traveling show

No longer am I tethered here
to this place
like some old workhorse
I have been set free
to roam by you

Colors have become more vivid
Sounds much clearer
I can take time to taste and savor
each blissful moment
Touch each second of the day
Listen to the sweet sounds
of life that caress my once
deaf ears

I am alive again
found by my soulmate
my long lost friend
exploring the universe together
a voyage whose itinerary
never ends

Sounds like you found your knight-on-a-white-horse! This was written with a reflective style I can relate to so well. I like that sixth stanza - it's so... alive with it's reflection of how much more full life becomes when you're living it. Kudos! J.
