this filament of time so fragile yet destructive
time flying like a film reel fast forwarding our life
seeing images burning the retina of childhood
driving the purity right out
diverting our attention hollywood we seek
money cars the american dream
while our souls rot from the inside
bright lights neon your name on the billboard
a nobody in a sea phoney what kind of dream
all in the name of that golden path
push our way or stab in the back
have to beat the jone's
have to have it all
