The Sapphire and the Emerald

Contributed by Kitty06 on Tuesday, 9th August 2005 @ 04:06:56 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

A moonlit ride into the darkened night
Silence broken by a trembling cry
Black tears streak down and smear a moonlit face
The salty grey rivers are then traced
Not by dark fingers thick and strong
But by moonlit ones thin and long

Gold upon auburn, green mixed with blue
Tonight’s sadness is being healed by a friendship that is true
Soft spoken words, sobs, and a light kiss
Tonight was not supposed to end like this

The emerald jewel has a bruised heart
The sapphire jewel gives the offender a look that is tart
The lover, the one who caused the pain
Must truly have gone insane
Why oh why must the emerald be broken like this?
The lover had even threatened the sapphire with his fists

Tonight was to be a night of rejoicing
But now there is only sobbing, hurting, and low voices
The emerald bleeds her heart onto the cloud that is paper
But that comes later…later

For now the emerald seeks the safety of the moonlit arms
The moonlit arms of the sapphire offer comfort that was not there
The sapphire for a moment lets life be fair

The emerald is really me and the sapphire my best friend
For her sapphire eyes and moonlit arms have always made my heart mend
I sit here and let my jeweled walls fall just for her
For tonight my heart has been hurt

I am glad for my friends too. They help us see things in a different light or just listen to us so that we can sort things out.
