I want the truth

Contributed by Archie on Tuesday, 9th August 2005 @ 12:03:26 PM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

Introduction; I will not name the specifics on what I am writing about in this poem, I think you already know. I also will not answer any questions concerning the poem's background, there are people here better suited to answer those questions and if you truly want to know I will direct you to one of them. I write this intro because I know this is a touchy subject for many site members myself included and I am only stating how I feel about the situation. I ask that people do not use this poem to open up old wounds that are closing and respect that this is just one of many opinions that are out there on this subject. (I have friends on both sides of this whom I respect. We are writers and I am writing how I feel objectively and I hope others are doing the same. Thanks in advance for reading this poem and for helping this to be a great site to post poetry on. --Archie

I looked at the numbers
and I looked at myself
I could hear the words inside me like a tug of war
I heard all the things
the people did say
the argruments weighed inside me causing total pain

I have to make my own decision
and I want it to be based on truth
can some one help me get down to the root

To sort through all the branches
and the tree trunks
I don''t want the spurs that only make more questions
All I can do is nothing til the truth comes out
I want the truth
I want the truth

I heard all the stories
but the fact still remains
you're saying something that has been repeated
I saw all the pictures
yet they don''t explain
the words that only he can bring to reason

I''m not saying he''s a liar
I''m not calling him a saint
I can''t make that decision in my present state
You may not agree with me
because I am aloof
I want the truth
I want the truth

I want the truth
I want the truth

I'm on 2 other sites.. where I may post as much as I want ..no restrictions, just read to be polite.
I don't know the family business of the website owners of either site. I didn't know about this clicking business until I came across that link by accident .. my accountant is helping me now because it's a tax deduction for me .. my contributions are rather large .. (some months) He helped me see the numbers and a page comes up that I have to click on before I can even log on .. I have no choice but to click on it .. to get it out of the way .. and I have a spam blocker .. It comes on 3 times before I can log on!!! I don't know if that counts for $$ or not .. but I think it does .. it's 3 clicks .. before I can log on...:-(

Regardless of the drama going on here, I find the outlet this site gives invaluable. I would love to hear about some of the other sites. Poetry is very important to me, It is a therapy of sorts. The ability to share it and get words on paper to heal myself is heaven. And that is my truth. Love you work Archie.

We all want the truth Archie.
However, some people who believe sincerely they are right, change their mind, and some simply are very fickle. They may come on with condemnatory words, then think it over and bring exculpatory writes. In both cases they believe in their relative truth.
So I assume what we mean by truth is a relative concept.
Your work is great.
Blessings

Yes Archie - we all want the truth. The trouble is we often have not sufficient insight into dilemmas and controversies.
The originators of a controversy are often themselves mixed up and believe they are in the truth. And believe it sicerely until they change their mind and see things differently.
Thus truth is a relative concept.
I myself am too confused about some issues that seem to trouble the site. We just don't know. It is possible that with the best intentions, we are all liable to error.

Your poem is brilliant.
Thanks for sharing
Elizabeth
