Love is a myth

I feel I am falling
into what I don't know.
Is it hope or despair?
All I have is the loneliness that love can repair.
But, love is a myth, only lust is real.
After lust comes pain and disappointment
that time rarely heals.
I'm sorry I was not
what you thought you had purchased
when you gave me the ring
that forever joined us.

Wow. Potent.
There's something in this that wakes up memories that I'd rather lay sleeping. At first I was all set to say something (probably terribly cliche) about the line "But, love is a myth, only lust is real."... until that is, I read the remainder of the piece and thought I understood better why it was included. Potent, indeed.
With wishes that hope grows and pushes the despair away,

That was so sad... A nice way to express your feelings though. |

Praying it is hope and you do not go the despair route. We have all been there, but I came out realizing that no one was worth making my life miserable for. We just have to view it as a lesson to learn from and walk forward, never looking back. Happiness can always be around the very next corner so why not take the chance? This is a very good write and makes one think.
Smiles,

Very good, and extremely thought provoking. Not only did it protray an array of feelings, but reminded of my father... |

When love becomes an obsession its time to leave the ship.
Love should come naturally.
Everyone changes after time has passed and the many issues in our lives affect the person we are and changes us for life.
I feel your heartache....
Very well written.
Take care,
Nats

This poem is deeper than it looks and on first reading things could be missed. This is a sad but in a lot of ways resolute poem |

I think there is only a select lucky few that would not be able to get this. And they are either not the children of divorced people or divorced themselves or they are too young to get it and there innocents saves them. I think this is sad, and wonderful about what most marriages go through these days.

Time rarely heals... indeed. And we never forget. But I believe love is more than a myth. Possibly simply because I want it to be true, but surely with so much pain in the world, its counterpart and opposite must be just as real, I believe. And with that cryptic comment, I'm going to bed.
Take care.
