You didn't win

Contributed by Erualaitalmarea on Monday, 8th August 2005 @ 03:39:09 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Lies entangled around my heart like a cage if thorns,
Each beat drove them further in,
For loving you my heart mourns,
You may have won the battle but the war you did not win,
I USED to love you, I USED to long to be your wife,
And now it all seems so odd to me; as if it was someone elses life,
For the war you waged inside me tore me apart,
You tore out my soul and ripped open my heart,
You went to tell anyone who would listen of your victory,
But you failed to notice that the damge you inflicted I repaired,
You thought the war was won so easily,
But even though I twitched and shook and was utterly scared,
I put my soul back in and stitched up my heart with care,
And even though I was sick from pain and my body ached from wear,
I drew myself up and pushed you away,
I am happy now though without a love but I can manage,
I do not shrink from the light and hide in darkness, no, I stand out in the light of day,
I have withstood your creulty and lived, you have left no trace of damage,
You won the battle but I won the war,
And upon my heart I have swore,
That I will never love you again in all my life,
And I will be another's wife,
You didn't win so leave me alone
From my heart I did disown,
Any thought or feeling for you,
The war is through,
So go home to your lies and deceit,
Live in your darkness while pretending to be pure and just,
You have been beat,
And I will never have for you again any trust,
You lost, I won,
My time with you is done.

A very truely expressive poem, it is good that you forgot about that person, it is better to forget about the people that hurt you and continue with your life, show them that you can be happy without that, that really gets to them. A Very good poem. SLipSiX.

You have very powerful writeing, I feel as each discription is flowing through me as I read it.
It can be a ver poiwerful and dangerous tool as well.
Good writers are rare, keep it up.
