Please don’t cry, your tears are like acid to my skin
But yet go straight to the heart, and make me hope we’ll never part.
Your eyes scream words I know you’d never say aloud
Alas, my heart heard yours, and will never be silenced
Shooting messages through my skin
Metaphors holding more meaning than their number in words.
“Never committed the crime, but received the sentence
God opened the heavens and unshackled this torrent
A downpour of tragedies washed all hope away
The ink of letters long written, smudged on that immortal day.
The improbable became absolute, odds eight thousand to one
A lifeboat quite afloat, and ‘Faith’ was it’s name
To rise above the gravestone you surely must believe
Sure of what’s hoped for, certain of that not seen
Pray, “O Lord God won’t you take this from me?
For we are more than conquerors but you are the King.”
