  Social

to be you

Contributed by Unbreakable on Saturday, 6th August 2005 @ 08:49:26 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Ripped apart at the seams
Only as good as tomorrow's dreams
Naive to what is, "identity"
I want to be you, so I'll never be me

An epic of beauty, a centerfold
Around which, my life I will mold
my mirror reveals a wasted soul
I want to be you, so I'll never be whole

You tell me who to imitate
What image my life should create
In a world drowning in vanity
I want to be you, please hear my plea

And I drown a little bit more everyday
Losing myself in each word that you say
One day I'll be entirely lost
I want to be you, that comes at a cost

High above me, you're an idol, a God
So intense, I can't even see the facade
I'm faceless in a crowd that watches with awe
I want to be you, to be rid of this flaw

I'll buy what you have in mind to sell
and it will never cross my mind to rebel
Mindlessly following the ways of today
I want to be you, to be on display

I flip through the pages, the channel has changed
the lastest trends leave me estranged,
and cut the hand that feeds society
but I need to be you, so I'll never be free

Great poem, but you should just be you.
