The Game

Contributed by EricBRamey on Tuesday, 2nd August 2005 @ 10:00:04 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

It's a game we all choose to play,
Easier for some and hard for others,
The rules are bent with warped desire,
Playing fair is never easy for the liar.

Meeting once, twice, three times lights the fire,
Taking numbers down in hopes that there's a click,
Shutting out the ones that don't inspire,
Honesty is a ghost for fear's sake.

Always one better than you upon the field,
Trifling words or walls of silence,
Rejection becomes as natural as drinking water,
Nice to meet you, but you're a bother.

As old as the hills this dance surely is,
Passed down through the ages without instructions,
Perhaps we win, perhaps we lose our esteem,
Dating is always easier...than it really seems.

I love the revelation at the end! The whole poem was wonderfully written and gave me a little chuckle...although I am sure it wasn't meant to be funny it gave me a little grin. There is someone out there for everyone, so keep on searching. I know a poem or two would probably reel them right in! ;o)
Thanks for the write.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
