In the inky black darkness above me
Shadows of clouds float by like waves upon a sea,
The moon only a sliver, glowing a soft pale yellow-white,
Gazing up at the stars in awe of just how small we really are,
Shrouded in my blanket of night,
Knowing even our sun is but a tiny star,
The cool grass beneath me and all is silent save the sound of the soft autum breeze,
I wish I had someone to share this with, someone by my side,
That is all I ask for please,
Someone to tell everything to and not to hide,
Someone to love, someone to hold,
Someone to keep warm when the night is cold,
When will he come Lord? when will I feel his love and his warm touch,
When will I hear the words "I love you so much"?
For now I wait silently for him to come, but every day seems longer as I am alone,
And in my heart this immense longing has grown,
Some day I hope I shall have a love,
To gaze with me at the stars above.

I hear the longing and loneliness in this, and know it well. I have struggled with the same thing, and though I have become stronger, maybe a little more fulfilled in what I have, I still struggle sometimes.

I believe that loneliness is given to us for a reason, and, sometimes, what we long for is withheld. I do know this; God does not want us to let anything here and now become our sole hope and joy, because it is transient. Sometimes He holds something back though we yearn for it, in order that we may grow to the point we no longer need it, and then He gives it, as a reward and a gift on top of our new strength.

I am rambling now. But it's late, so I have an excuse. I do hope you find peace and joy, perhaps around the next bend. Namárië.

Andrew
