A LETTER FROM MICK

Contributed by Lovingcritters on Monday, 1st August 2005 @ 10:57:33 PM in AEST
Topic: poets

For those of you who don't read the forums......this is a letter from Mick, (the owner of YPDC)
please read everyone and help him out......................

Hi all,

I am sorry I have not been around for all to see as much as some would like, and sometimes I am not.
I have told everyone before the type of finance that is required to keep this site going, and the month’s requirements are posted on the index page in the donations block.
I would like to thank all those that have in the past helped and all those that do.

I hate having to ask for help, so I apologise for asking, but it would be nice for the site to continue.

Presently, to be honest, I am broke, and will be for many months to come now, which is making it hard so if you can help support the site a little, if only by checking out any ads that interest you, I appreciate it.
Many of you know of my wife and son that I am trying to get thru the Australian immigration so that we may all be together once again. Keeping her in her country, and the associated costs such as phone calls, flights to and from her home to the embassy for all their little requirements that they keep coming up with, hotel costs etc etc is costing me sometimes as much as $1000.00 per week, at present I am having to sell my belongings to keep this up, and soon will have little left to sell. This site, is my hobby, I have supported it for many years, and hope to for many years to come, but right now, I do need all the help I can get, once my wife and I are together, the costs will drop to normal living expenses, which when you have a family, is much less than currently required to keep her abroad.

Today the immigration dept came up with another heap of requirements for my wife to undergo, this could take up to or over 5 more months, which will mean that we would not have been together in over 9 months, as there is no way I can afford now to go and see her again, I just cannot afford the airfares. It also means another stay away from home for her for anything from 3 to 6 weeks, so she is near the embassy, so more hotels, food, etc etc.

I am not asking for money to see her, or even to help support her, just enough to help cover this site while this is ongoing, I do not want to have to close it for 4 or 5 months while I have these extra costs, so a click here, etc will help, and any donations will be muchly appreciated.

It is also very hard for me and my wife and children at the moment, I know at times how down I feel with all this, and know my wife and children feel the same at times, I seem to have constant headaches from worry and at times just do not feel like working on the site, or anything for that matter, so please forgive my absence at times.

Finally, I will be taking off the comment/posting requirement soon, but will leave it at one post per day for free members. This is due to the fact that I have not yet come up with a way whereby deleted poems don’t delete the comments, making those that have comments on those poems lose them and their tally. I will also be adding a few things that I will announce once they are ready.

That’s all for now.

Thanks for reading

Mick

I was asking in the forum today if we shouldn't do an announcement for those that do not go into the forums, which is the majority of the site. Should have know you would do it. Always there at the right time, Takoda. That name just fits you perfectly. Personally I think you are that beautiful lavender in the rainbow. The color of regal glory. I love you, my friend.

This was a fantastic idea ConSue posting this for all to see. Poor Mick with his hands so full already trying to take care of his own family, still always thinking about the family of YPDC poets he has created here. Read the forum myself, but I know there are probably many who do not....Thank you for posting this!

Excellent idea ConSue! Many ypdc'ers do not go into the forums, and need to be aware of this as well...I've donated but if I can again this month I will. I'll be continuing to click away too : ) Thank you for posting this....
