My friends daughter

Topic: dedicatedpoems

I decided to stop by, it was on my way home
to give her the blanket my aunt had sewn.
She was lying there sleeping and she looked so sweet
I didn't wake her up, I just kissed her cheek.

I remember the call I got the next day.
Her mother told me she had passed away.
All I could do was sit there and cry.
I couldn't believe my Hannah had died.

She was like my own child, I loved her so.
It was hard for me to let her go.
But I tried to be strong and not cry for Sam.
To be there for her and hold her hand.

It's been a year now since she has passed,
but her memory in my mind will last.
I think of her often and I am glad,
to have those moments with the daughter I never had.

I am so very sorry. The loss of a child is so difficult to get through. You never get OVER it, but some do manage to reconcile to the fact. You memories of her will always be with you and sustain you in times of need.

You are the most awesome friend Kayla. The baby shower, the blanket, the before she was here, and after she left - you have been here for me through it all and I really do love you to pieces for it.
I don't let people in Kayla, I shut them out and you never let me do that to you. If I don't call you call me, if I don't want company you bug me until I can't help but get you over, you all are probably the only reason I am not a complete recluse. Don't think I am oblivious to how much you care about me, or how much you loved my little girl. And thank you for helping me through the loss.
Now, as for the poetess in you! Why did you never email this to me Kayla? I think it is the best I have seen from you and not just because it's about us. You have melded a rhythm in your words, you are settling into your own style, and you've totally mastered the tugging at heartstrings bit! You have written a powerful piece and I absolutely love it, and I'd love it even if it wasn't about my Hannah, but more because it is, and because you dared to go there.........
I love you baby girl and I am always, always gonna be here for you! You are my only real friend!
