One Lazy Moment

I touched your hand last night in a dream.
I squelched my flinching movement
and left it there for you to use.
Like two dancers in a dip, you cradled
it there. And for only a second,
I found myself your comfort’s guest.
The line moved, and you slid away.
Your face now lays on my brain
like a treated oxford shirt on my bed—
always one lazy moment from the floor.
I know within the hour, I’ll forget you.
But I’ll remember my frenetic heartbeat,
Dismembered breathing, my orphaned soul
Every time I pull a shirt from the carpet.

It might seem a little raw but it's full of conviction and intensity. I liked it a lot. Christopher. |

I had to read this a few times to understand it! I enjoyed it but still not clear what you were trying to get across ... keep penning, your style is interesting : ) |
