The Hope of Future Tragedy

Contributed by rockergirl94 on Sunday, 31st July 2005 @ 01:11:16 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

There is joy through the hard times
Is there even one moment
When more genuine praise is whispered
Than when it is surrounded by suffering
Thanksgiving amongst sobs
A rose in a bed of thorns.

In the drought of the hot summer days
The Sun’s rays beat down on us
But when are we more aware of the Sun?
It reminds us to thank our Lord God for the warmth
And for light rescuing us from the turmoil of darkness.

For if we felt no fear
Could we recognize peace?
And if there was no death
Would we acknowledge this gift of life we each possess?
No one can truly appreciate happiness
Who has not been in the depths of despair.

All is lost
All is fear
All is pain
Praise the Lord.

I must say I enjoyed the line of thinking in this poem and enjoyed the direction it was headed in. I'm not so sure it ended up where you had hoped. To me, the first and final verses seem better suited to another poem, and you'd be best to pick up what you started with the second and third verses. They hold the content that could make this a stick-in-your-mind write. Keep up the poetry, you are headed in the right direction.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
