Tears Upon My Shoulder

Contributed by sir_odd87 on Saturday, 30th July 2005 @ 08:37:50 PM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

I held her close and listened
Something not enough people do.
And as she told me of her life,
Her tears soaked my sleeve through.

I held her even closer,
And whispered in her ear,
"No matter how bad you think you are,
I'm gonna stay right here."

She thanked me and apologized.
I couldn't understand.
There was nothing to apologize for.
I just took and squeezed her hand.

She thinks she is a nuisance,
She wonders why I stay.
I love her like she could never know,
So I let the tears fall where they may.

No one listens to her,
Or gives her time to cry.
They all claim to love her,
But no one does it like I.

To see her cry rips me apart,
But I still hold her tight.
Because I know I can help her through it,
And she's going to be alright.

This poem is amazing. I can so much relate to the girl in your poem except for the fact that I never had someone I could cry to, who would understand. And let me tell you, she is so lucky to have someone like you. Great write..

Brought tears to my eyes reading this. What a superb friend you are. Not enough friends listen I mean really listen to whats in your heart and soul. She is very lucky to have you by her side.

Excellent

I'm sure she thanks God everyday that he sent such an angel her way. Truly, when all the trouble is behind, she will be the most wonderful flower in the garden, because you have been such a wonderful caretaker....
