Unspoken Farewells to Familiar Walls

I’ve spent now and countless forevers
Etching bitter nothings into these walls
Afraid of the unknown
And afraid to let go
Who would of thought such sweet self-pity
Would lead to a train-wreck like this.
And so I hide away in this attic room
Glaring at endless invisible enemies
Whispering in desperation
“I’m not to blame”
But I don’t believe a word I’m saying
And the way this overgrown road is leading
It never mattered anyways.
“So it seems, so it seems”
The voice flickers as a dying candle
“Let go my child
As your release
You cling to sunken ships
In the depths of the sea.”
“But it’s all I’ve ever known
These tattered shambles are my home
And these excuses are my middle name
I’m sure you’ll find a new escape
A method more pleasing to my ringing ears
A slave to fear, I’ll still be here
Etching bitter nothings into these walls.”

This, is the one I needed to read tonight.......there is always one that speaks straight to me and tonight you win that reward....giggle,giggle! It never ceases to amaze me the effect a strangers words can have on a person........that's the special thing about poetry in general, and your poem specifically. You have written a wonderful piece that has spoken to my heart, the mark of any good poet! Thanks for sharing!

im listening to the song, cant stop by the red hot chili peppers and it actually made a good rhythm for this poem. well we all make our choices and pay for them, eh? i really liked the phrases most in this, that was the centerpiece of this poem i think. |

This very much appeals to me.
The content, the fashion in which it was ever so carefully structured.
Excellent use of imagery and emotive justifications...
The fast pace and quality notions, presented within this are...extraordinary.
There are some mindful connotations here, rather abstract and thought provoking.
Thanks for sharing, a truly inspiring piece. |
