What In The World

Contributed by Redhotchilichic on Friday, 29th July 2005 @ 06:48:25 AM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

What in the world were you thinking?
You left my heart sinking
If you had come to me
I would have heard your plea
And it would have been easier on me
Your very best friend

But in the end, you decided to take your life
You just picked up that knife
And slit your wrists
Your list of problems went through the roof
You thought nobody cared about you
But nothing could be further from the truth

You sat in your room all alone
While outside the people you hid
From were growing ever more fond of you
They were scared, not knowing what to do
You could have gone to them, they cared too

But instead you took the easy way out
You didn't scream or shout
You left the world more quietly than you entered it
Not careing about the people you left behind
Or the effect it had on them
For you to end your short life.

This was a very moving poem, I have never had any friend take their life but I can only imagine what it would be like.

very expressive poem. I'm so sorry about your friend. I hope you like it here at YPDC .. if you don't get a lot of comments, don't take it personally .. some of us have been here for a long time and .. well that's just how it is. Poet ego or something: we love to write but hate to read? it seems to be a problem everywhere .. sometimes .. so if it happens ( not saying it will but .. if it happens .. just gently nudge me .. I'll try to respond... k????? mary
and nice to have you here ...

WELCOME MY DEAR TO YPDC........we are so glad you here, and you will see, we will love you to the enth degree! The best way to get known around here is to do what you just to did to me. Comment on my poems, and then I see your name, and look you up, put you under my favorites, and you'll home free!
What a touching, heartwrenching poem for you, the friend of a suicide victim. You must understand that anyone that would take their own life is very very sick. That is one instinct build right in man and that is survival at any cost! So when they go against that you know they simply aren't accountable.
I'm so sorry for those left behind, it can be so heart breaking, and many times leaves everyone feeling very guilty!
Enjoy your poetry..........you're loaded with talent, I can tell just from one write!
Warm love and thank you for your nice comment on my poem also
Lovincritters
