Heartless heathen, you my closest companion,
My shield from the struggles that meet me on the other side of this door,
The error of all my ways, the weakness I cannot tame.
Too much time and space and distance,
Neither has faltered my resistance-
For even on nights when you do not hold me
Merely missing your presence is enough to console me
And though I am told this makes me a pawn
I would never trade in the cloud I dwell on.
For to love you in vain is to love you at all,
And there’s no turning back if you won’t break your fall.
