Of Butterflies and Dragons
Which way does the wind blow your sail
What will you see, heaven or hell
Will you succeed or will you fail
The answer to your fate I cannot tell
Maybe the answer lies in butterflies and dragons
What is the measure of a man
Is it his belief and where he stands
Or is it that he can be bold
Maybe it is that the truth is told
Maybe the answer lies in butterflies and dragons
Why do we create just to destroy
Why do we trust just to fall for ploys
Who says nothing while inside they scream
Why are there those that soar and others that refuse to dream
Maybe the answer lies in butterflies and dragons
Some of beauty are truly vile
And others so desperate to believe are in denial
While some think they are true and pure of heart
But some unborn never get a start
Maybe the answer lies in butterflies and dragons
There are those that dare to judge
While there are none without a smudge
Some are content to whine and cry
While others will dare to vie
Maybe the answer lies in butterflies and dragons
We all have strength and beauty inside
The passage of time has seen us fly
All we must do is be true and try
And maybe our flame will not die
The answer lies in butterflies and dragons

This one blew me away. I can't believe no one has commented on this yet! Where to begin? The rhythm of this poem is stupendous, my only complaint is that for the ending to sound better, 'butterflies' and 'dragons' should be switched. But then you would lose the wonderful repetition you have going on. I also love to see no forced rhyming. It's all so pure and good. Fantastical write! |
