The Key to My Heart

Contributed by justme03 on Wednesday, 27th July 2005 @ 07:21:46 PM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

The anger in my heart has torn me apart.
The anguish I can no longer stand.
The pain is unraveling me as if I’m an old knit sweater;
I disappear strand by strand.
The moonlight gleams on my silver sheath that within
holds the key to my heart.
I sit in the dark all alone, contemplating over how to win.
Will I win this and set my heart free, if I simply unlock it with
this sharp edged key?
I feel no remorse toward my future actions.
It was always planned since the beginning to end this way.
My mind and heart have already conversed over this matter
a fair time not too few.
I waste not a minute and pull out the blade and plunge
it deep into my heart.
It unlocks the pain as the blood falls like rain
then flows like silver mercury.
The world fades away and ironically
I pray to hold on a second longer.
I realize at that moment, that
I will be living no longer.

~Kortnie~

nicely expressed feeling really very sad and Im hoping that this is a poem only and your not really wanting to kill yourself. Life is bleak at times but get up and get after it! You have lots of living to do. If you need to chat Im a pm away

You have a lot of the same style in you writing as I do... you write when you are down to express your feelings at that exact thot no matter how good, bad, or even scary they are. It helps a lot! This is a good write! I can tell you... things will not always be bad... they will get better. When you've hit rock bottom, the only way you can go is up...

I love how you compare your being, your soul to that of an unraveling silver thread. The whole idea of a knife being a key to one's heart is also impressive. This poem screams of torture and grief. Though I feel that the last four lines really blow the poem away. 'The world fades away and ironically
I pray to hold on a second longer.
I realize at that moment, that
I will be living no longer' They show the sucidal remorse and the split second regret. Please think about those four lines before you plung in that key. You may realize at the second too late that you truly want to live.

Kortnie you really outdid yourself here, I truly hope this was just a very sad write and not a future planned event.

The pain is unraveling me as if I’m an old knit sweater;

I disappear strand by strand.

It unlocks the pain as the blood falls like rain

then flows like silver mercury.

These lines were wonderful, the comparison between yourself and an unraveling sweater, great. Just try not to unravel, hold on a little longer!

~Blue~

Nice expression. It always helps to write it down, INSTEAD of completing the action.

Naw, you're not going to kill yourself...you have too much to say to this world with your poetry. I rarely comment on anything relating to suicide but this one is so well written I couldnt pass it by without telling you so.

Very well done my friend

DAMN KORTNIE! I can't believe you wrote that. It was really deep and emotional; it scared me to read it. But seriously, don't kill yourself. You write so well and you could publish your material. You could be a top writer if you put your mind to it. Even though sometimes life can be really stressful, there's always greener grass on the other side. I myself am having a bad time in my life and reading this poem kind of made me want to do as it says. But you do have people who love you, so look at the brighter side of things. if you need to talk, I'm always here. TTYL
Very Great Write
Always
