A Letter to my father

Topic: FamilyPoems

Dear Father,

Do you know who this is?
Well it's your youngest daughter Jackie
I hope you didn't forget that you had one
because i surely forgot I had a father
let me not use the term father or daddy for you
that's an honor a priviledge that you dont deserve
you got all this so called luxury in your life
and you put your children to the side
I'm tired of holding in all this hurt
all the pain all of this anger
i'm sick of you not taking me seriously
you dont even understand
i feel that i should hate you
but i don't
It's only right that i love you
but i can't
when your son need a positive rolemodel in his life
you couldn't even be that for him
this right here
it's not hate male
not even a sorry for not loving you
it's how i feel
through my poetic view
it's me being real and you taking it
you dealt your hand
laid it down
and said this is how its going to be played
one thing was missing from your hand
guess what
yeah your children
i really don't have much to say
i can't cry anymore because i refuse to
i can't hope anymore because i don't want to
and i definitely dont care anymore because you dont
so all i can really do
is set you as a memory
a memory that i never had

sincerely,
your youngest daughter Jackie

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
