Clock Watching

Contributed by Nazmythian on Monday, 25th July 2005 @ 08:13:26 PM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

In syncopated rhythm
My heart’s marking off the hour
With the clock upon the wall
That somehow seems to have the power
Of extending every moment
Till the whistle blows at five
And my heart beats now so slowly
Will I make it out alive?

Hurry whistle!! Get here faster
Beat the clock and end this day
Though my heart has not yet stopped
I am so fearful that it may
Are the hands moving more slowly?
Could they move yet slower still?
To be perfectly honest
Of this day, I’ve had my fill

The work hours on Mondays and Fridays always seemed to double to me. I was never ready for Monday to begin with and Fridays I just wanted to end so many i would have a couple hours of weekend before another horrid Monday. Great work, Naz.

I enjoyed this - so true, not only for work but school as well. Your rhyme scheme is excellent and didn't seem forced at all. Nice work. Blessings, J.

Come on now, Nazz. Some things in life you just must wait for. Good work, though. You've a talent for composing good lines on just about anything.

(waiting - patiently, mind you - for several ships to come in)

Heehee. You'll be fine..

Nice write Nazzy.

Oh yes I remember those days. It was as if the clock owned time, or at least it felt like time owned you. For me every evening is a Friday and everyday is a Saturday.

Sorry, not trying to rub it in, just been there done that. But I can empathize.

A fun write my friend,

Will
