A Patients Rendition

Contributed by Willofree on Sunday, 24th July 2005 @ 05:37:39 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

I entered the attractive facility
Place where my treatment was to be
A bit nervous you perhaps could see
To be in a place to deal with my mortality

Yet it did not seem a morbid place to be
Every one I met was very friendly to me
I was treated with respect and dignity
By every staff person who encountered me

Doctor who's Readiology truly is his forte
A spiritual wamrth and hope he did display
Along with his humor and bedside manner
Perched a guardian angel to oversee the matter

Although I Knew I was ultimately in God's hands
His chosen servants were there to carry out his plan
Smiling and friendly faces at each turn
Helped me feel more ready each time I returned

Nurses who helped with treatment for me
Were very empathetic and exuded dignity
The Techs who zapped me with the radiation gun
Were professional, yet casual in a way that was fun

Support and administrative staff whom I met
Were friendly every chance they would get
My heart felt grateful for the tender loving care
That I experienced while I was there

I sat in the waiting room over looking the lake
Where I often would contemplate my fate
What the final outcome will be
Is known only by the Power that be

I do know that on my treatment team
No one was giving up on the miraculous machine
But perhaps more meaningful to me
Is the sense of caring and hope I see

Whether this treatment is successful or not
We'll all know we gave it our very best shot
Thank you all for your work and your sharing
But even more, thank you for you caring

First off, I'm glad to hear your treatment was successful : )
This was a beautiful and personal write that exudes positivity...Stress certainly plays a big role, and I'm sure the fact that you were treated by such a compassionate group of individuals, made a huge difference...A very touching write Will, and I'm happy you shared it...How wonderful that they added this inspiring poem in their information packet!

Will, this makes me so happy to hear your treatment had a positive outcome. The people to whom you wrote this too felt so great, I know. Rarely do they get the pats on the back they deserve. It is a great tribute to your appreciation of the care and love they give to their patients. Thank you for going beyond the normal "thank you." It means a lot to them.

Smiles,
Rita
