Free Yet Imprisoned

~o~

Each night, I lie restless on my bed
Pictures of you keep clouding my head
These portraits of what my heart has seen
Come with questions of what might have been
Visions of us being together
What might have been, I’d always wonder

The feeling of your arms around me
Is just something for my dreams to see
The bliss of catching your lovely scent
Just a dream of what was never meant
To gently hold your face towards mine
Would never appear in fate’s design

Only in dreams could I understand
Feeling the warmth of holding your hand
And in dreams, I often fancy this
To feel the tenderness of your kiss
Sadly, the dream soon comes to an end
I wake up trying to comprehend

Now that you’re gone, what else can I do?
Just to tell you how much I love you
To tell you that you’re the biggest part
Of this space I keep inside my heart
A vast space for you and for you alone
You, the only love I’ve ever known

With your love, I’d find my redemption
Without it, I’d die in seclusion
The burden of losing you forever
Makes death seem lighter than a feather
I’m imprisoned by love, please save me
Come back to me, I beg you, set me free.

~o~

A smooth and compelling rhythm, very accomplished rhyming, imaginative take on breaking up imprisoning your heart. Plus the coverage of feelings and issues within a breakup is very good - obviously you have had some experience of the pain. I read this one a few times and enjoyed it very much. Keep posting!
