Standing In My Shadow

Contributed by Nazmythian on Thursday, 21st July 2005 @ 12:07:06 AM in AEST
Topic: ambiguous

It’s dark in here
Cooler than the air outside
Muted colors
Shades of gray now polarized

Seems everything
Becomes much more protected
When life relies
On light to be projected

Seeking to hide
From the pain I’ve come to know
Closing my eyes
I’m standing in my shadow

Wow Naz, I like this. I have to ponder this a while so I understand it. Think I halfway do, lol.

hmm.. Rita's right - this is a bit of a toughie. Sort of like seeing yourself from your own effects, if I understand it right. Not an easy thing to do, in any case, but can be done. For something as short as this one is, compared to your usual, it seems to say a lot! A good one, because the reader can bring their own experiences into the understanding of it - which is really the hoped-for goal. Blessings, J.

I like this one, i'm not sure i entirely grasp what you were trying to say, definitly ambiguous, but sometimes poetry is better when it's open to many different interpretations. good job.

For an ambiguous poem Naz, you did real well I think??????
I'm more concerned about the pain part?
Or did you just smoke a joint?
You know I'm teasing*smiles*
I especially loved the line
"standing in my shadow," that's a pretty dark place to stand, I'd say!
Were you in your Buick when you wrote this one?
Warm love with teasing giggles

Hmmm I like this...Is it like looking inward? Or viewing yourself from an outsiders perspective? That's what came to my mind while reading this. Ambiguous indeed! One thing I do understand is that you have a wonderful flair for expressing yourself : )
Good to see another new write from ya Nazzy! Well done.

Scorp.

With eyes closed
The muted colors become polarized.
Protected by the lids.
When opened only can the light be projected.
Wishing to close your eyes tightly
as if you can hide.
Only to find~~~a man within the man...your shadow.
Deep very deep!!!
vrooooooom vroooooom!!!

It doesn't sound like your shadow so much as .. inside yourself .. because your shadow is outside.. where you've cast it.. sounds like you close your eyes .. and you see inside; the negative; the polorized inside out version of you .. you've hopped inside you trying to escape the pain .. haha on you. It's there, waiting to jump on you ... poor DM. hehe. But Mary's here.. she can catch it with her dreamcatcher and throw it right back out. she's magic! nice write! been waiting here to read you .. (smiles)

I think we all wish to be shrouded by our own shadow... to hide from everything that unfolds in the daylight, and find comfort in darkness... The impossibility is deliciously satisfying, indeed. Such a brief capturing of obscure splendor... like a picture, a fleeting click, and an image is imprisoned forevermore behind Technicolors... Your symbolism and imagery is, as always, breath-taking and enchanting. My admiration for you and your work stretches 100 miles further across a horizon with each poem you submit. I often wonder what inspires most of these seemingly spontaneous masterpieces of yours... and what will they evoke inside my mind.. There is an undertone here, a hint of hidden sorrow exposed through your words of shadows... I do hope things will return to normalcy soon, cheri. I enjoyed this poetic work of art thoroughly, as all of your writes are flawlessly woven and heart-wrenchingly beautiful. Merci beaucoup for sharing with us, my dear Naz. Nice to see you writing again... I've missed your words, :-). *Hugs* Radiant in its morbidity. Loved this! Do write again soon, cheri... always a pleasure reading your work. All my love. Forever,

Votre cher plus amie/petite fleur,

~*Stephy*~

*doesn't have a clue*

Heehee.

Seriously though, I don't know what this is really about, I just know that it is good.

I adore that last stanza. I know that, I think.

Great write hun,
*hugs* Phil xxx

Hi Naz,

This is an intriguing poem. What came to my mind was the idea of never venturing outside our own safety zone, and restricting our movements to the range our shadow casts. We may gaze into the projected sunlight, but we don't function there?

Fascinating poem, Nazzi

Will

PS I didn't realize that I was that far behind on reading your poems.

Sort of like depression in which the eyes cannot see because of the lonelieness of pain, drawing the curtain to close out reality.

Nice write. Its understandable to me. I have dealt with several people feeling this way.
