The Lighthouse

Topic: StoryPoetry

On the rocky shores of Pebble Beach,
Stands the nicest girl you will ever meet.
She will guide you when you’re woozy.
She cares not if fruit is juicy.
For she is the lighthouse that we all call Lucy.

Not a soul was lost when Lucy light shown.
Not when it rained or when wind was blown
She stood there for years, guiding the way,
For soldiers and sailors and children at play.
She stood tall all night, until the first light of day.

And then one day Lucy’s light burned out.
The people’s minds were filled with doubt.
Her light would shine bright no more,
and sailors crashed into the shore.
They all had lost who they most adored.

But late at night my friends, you see,
she stands alone on that beach.
And when day slowly turns into night,
she still tries to shine her light,
but she casts no light on the shore or the bay
She only shines in the hearts of soldiers...

…and sailors…

…and children at play…

You did a good job turning this into a poem. It is nostalgic for me for in my younger days there was a beautiful lighthouse on a lovely peninsula where were used to go a build bonfires at night and sleep out with the light sweeping over the water. The big ships would sound their bells in respect as they passed by. Sad the lights are all going out.
