The Last Piece of My Heart
I'm not wanted here,
But I'll let go
Of what I hold dear.
I only wanted you to know
That I gave my heart
And soul without regrets
For you to only tear them apart,
And after all of this I still neglect
To mend the wounds I endure.
The abrasions aren't going away,
Because I keep inflicting newer
Ways to abuse myself to say
That I was not meant to be here.
I was never meant to live
Always knowing that what I feared
Would come true to give
One more scar to remind myself
That holding you dear did melt
My heart to more pieces.

Well, it seems we are losing ALL of the best. Jenn, I hate seeing you go. You certainly ARE needed here, WANTED here by a lot of us, especially me. This is like a nightmare. A deep primal nightmare. I hate this, I hate it, I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, you know my two cents on this subject...I most definitely hope you not only stay, but continue to post...You and your poetry are very much loved and respected here. Yes, it may be a lot of the same people commenting over and over again...but that's because we love your amazing writes, and can't get enough. Look at who the people are that comment on your writes!!! All excellent poets, so that should tell you a little something about your talent. I really hope this isn't the last write I read by you on here, but at the same time, as I said to you before...It's strictly YOUR decision, and I'll respect whatever you decide to do...I really hope you stay though ; )

| You have obviously given a lot of yourself to this write. And I can feel your dismay. I can only encourage you to see the brighter things that perhaps you are overlooking or intentionally avoiding. Almost all human emotions and behaviours are the result of what people think, assume or believe (about themselves, other people, and the world in general). It is what people believe about situations they face – not the situations themselves – that determines how they feel and behave. I hope you post more writes, you are gifted for sure. |

Well Jennifer, this is a sad situation indeed. I don't know anything about any problems you may be having with the site, so this is rather shocking. I will miss you a great deal, as I really enjoyed your talent and reading your poetry. I also very much valued your feedback on my poems that you commented upon. I hope this is temporary. I should have ventured to read your poetry sooner. I'd seen you about the forums and not only wanted but intended to read your work and comment on it where I could, but until you just today commented on me I (selfishly, it seems) didn't bother to try hard enough.
I'll regret being so remiss.
"One more scar to remind myself

I'm kind of intrigued by the concept of melting into pieces. I've never really thought of melting and pieces to be connected in such a way but that's just a tribute to your uniqueness and talent, isn't it?

| Straight from the heart...excellently done. I enjoyed how things flowed so easily from one line to the next...that's a surprisingly weak trait in most other poems that I read. This was different. You had an entire thought that came to a sort of fruition by the end. There was a path that was followed, and it's hard to explain. Suffice to say that you left point a at a great pace and got to point b with a lot of energy left over for a strong ending. I know this isn't the last poem you've written, however it might be the last one I see from you on the site, but hopefully things go your way and ypdc becomes more and more appealing to post poetry for you again. I think i'll shut up now and say I loved this poem...lol. |

Well u've probably noticed I'm way behind on my reading and coments. Please forgive me.
I think I read on comments that venket said u decided to stay, I pray u do.
I also know there are some cold hearted people on this planet and unfortunatly on our site here.
I have no clue what's happened but if ya ever wonna talk about just pm me any time.
U know out of over five years here i've only been personally attacked once..
I started to leave to but i finally realized that's just what they want. Heck if someone ****** me off in my home there's no way they would get away with it. So they want run me away from my poetry home! When u stay they just get ****** off and go on to the next one. See when u make up your mind to stay u take away the power they try to destroy u with. Then no one gets hurt except the abuser.

This is nonsense. Ok, think about it, but if you go, then I will lose a good writer for my reading. I hope you change your mind. Write to me please. I am someone for you to have reason to stay. After all last night I read a few poems from other writers, and I can remember one comment that really moved me. It said this. Listen to what Essentially9 says about writing, this is what she taught me. And that was... to write from the heart, and not for anyone else but yourself. If you start writing to make others happy, then you will not be giving out your best art. Now, will you please re-consider. I have faith in you.. I myself need a writer like you, that has wisdom enough to say that in a comment. It made me smile and it just re-inforced the truth about writers, the way they should write.. and not to worry if they will be a Frost, or Emerson, Or Poe, or Stevie Smith. Oh I read stuff. I watch comments and I learn from them. I learn from honest writers here at YPDC. I need all of you.. All of you. So Essentially9, I am down on my knees and praying you will stay.

You have the right to belong anywhere you so wish. I have not had the pleasure in reading your poetry but whilst browsing today I came across some very beautiful writes of yours. It would be so very sad if you left as you have just have gained another fan. I hope to comment some more on your wonderful writes. Do not let others grind you down. I do not know the reasons you are leaving but please re consider your decision as you are to fine a writer to let others upset you. Write a poem venting your thoughts.

OH Jennifer, I couldn't comment on here earlier because I was afraid... afraid that by "last poem on YPDC" you meant "last poem ever" which made me think the worst!
This is a heart wrenching poem and I can't believe someone's made you feel this way... it's aweful *hugs* We do love you honey and i hope you'll re-think the "last poem" thing... I love your poems... I just can never find the words to say how I feel about them....

I know so few on here-and all these comments....I do not know what is going on but this poem- is so universal-- have felt what this poem speaks- and not referring to a poetry site-
Life situations and how we sometimes feel have we overstayed our welcome- and yet we stay- could be anything a relationship, a job or even life itself. Thank you for writing this and sharing.

| I appreciated the comments you left me. I like someone who can give amazing constructive critisizim. I also like the fact u didnt assume i was depressed because of my writing.... I wanted to say that i liked this poem, but the end seemed too different from the other stanzas. Everything seems to ryhme and then hearts melt... iono i did like the poem though so dont get me wrong |

Well Jen, I'm fighting through a bout of insomnia right now and thought "Hey, why don't I comment on poems again now that YPDC has no longer blocked my IP address" and right after that thought came to my head (well....actually, about an hour later) I thought "Hey, why don't I check out Jen's old YPDC page and take a look at a poem or two."
So.....your last poem posted got a whopping 39 comments since you posted it oh-so-long ago.... *applauds*, I thought i'd toss in another comment to make it an even 40 :) I know I posted a while back but i thought what the heck, i'll post again for ol' time's sake (And I should mention that you were so courteous as to post two comments on a poem for me before, so I think this was overdue).
I find myself in agreement with that fellow who used the name "fielding88" and commented on the poem when you first posted it, he seems to capture my thoughts verbatim (I'm just as suspiscious as you are as to who this fielding88 fellow could be)
What I would like to inquire about, however, is your take on this poem now that it has gone through the aging process, so be sure to provide me with an answer (I'm not going to tell you I posted a comment here, I'll be timing you on when you finally spot this new comment ) |

I wonder if many leave when life gets good again???
I have no idea. As a late comer in 2015 I find many have gotten lost. Maybe they outgrow poetry itself or realize today in the digital world no matter how great you are you won/'/t make a dollar off of it. Sad ain/'/t it? |
