I must walk by a thousand people
Who I might have known
Had fate taken a different turn
Each day I see faces
Who could have been my everything
Instead they walk by and turn to nothing
I must have spoken to hundreds of people
Who could have been my friends and partners
I must have hit on a thousand women
Yet only a small few ever became my lovers
One can only imagine
How many blocks I have walked
Wondering aimlessly in an ally way in the baked apple
New York
And on these picturesque city streets
Where the shops and cafes hum a beat
I walked right by you as you sipped your cool iced tea
No one noticed your elegance and grace
The way you lifted the cup and tilted your wrist
As the glass touched your mouth
A trace of your lips
Was outlined in red paint
The book you were reading turned its own page
Electric like lightning in a summers rain
I never stop
And as you turned to nothing
A stranger that could have been something
If not
In danger of loosing nothing
I must have had this thought coming
Your face is safe
As sure as the sun is shining

I love this! It's just so unique, and it really makes you think. So very true, with a twist of fate how very different things could be...You did a great job telling a story that the reader can picture right before their eyes. Well done. This actually inspired a write for me...but I won't be posting it today : )
