Wandering Samurai
Swords clanged against swords and shields,
Battling in the Japanese fields.
The Meiji Revolution was raging on,
Two sides against each other, and the swords' ringing song
Was heard all through the Japanese fields.
In this battle fought a samurai,
He fought very hard on the meiji side.
The mention of his name made men's blood run cold,
His tales are told in the stories of old.
His name was Himura Battousi.
Son of a great general leader was he,
He was so fast, his sword could not be seen.
He fought for the dawning of a new era of Meiji,
And everyone he fought could plainly see
That he was a master of Hiten Mitsurugi. *
He was as tan as the drunkard's black rum,
His hair was as red as the setting sun.
He wore his hair in a high ponytail,
He knew, in the end, that he would prevail,
Against his enemies when he was done.
After the battle he observed the field,
His blood-red eyes as cold as steel.
His eyes were in a cold death glare,
As if bidding any of his enemies to dare
To fight him, for they would surly be killed.
The Meiji soldiers looked around and saw
Their enemies struck down, and they were filled with awe
At their hero, Battousi, who answered their prayers,
Himura Battousi, the Man-Slayer,
Who's actions had stunned and amazed them all.
The Battousi turned and walked away,
Trodding through the bloody glade.
Plodding through the mud and rain,
Never to be seen again.
He was to be a wanderer for the rest of his days.
No one knows why he walked away,
From the life of lengendary killer that day.
Some say he felt remorse,
For the brutal way he killed both man and horse,
But I know that he never put his sword away.
*Hiten Mitsurugi is a type of sword and fighting style.
