Hush Hush

Contributed by taurusgem1 on Tuesday, 19th July 2005 @ 02:03:05 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

His whisper
Stale alcoholic, anger
Sinking into your head;
Now echoes throughout
A hallowed heart

Hush, hush
Sweet child
He sees your fears

Monster leaping from the glowing crack
Of a battered wooden door
Clinging, clutching, embracing
Your tiny body

Crying never helped
Obeying, was your only escape
Rough scared hands, blistered
Scratching your skin
Heart, exploding reaching to climb out
You quietly pray, begging
To an unkind God

Now twenty four and still
A battered child;
Bruises of yesterday
Seeping through, onto your skin
Monsters still capture you
Stealing you sleep
With horror movie images

Sadness, evokes distrusting relationships
Corrupting your mind
Ripping away your youth and
Punishing your future
With each soft touch
From a loving hand
Your body cringes, with guilt

Lying now, cradled beneath
Cold, black fabric
Alone, forever chained to the past
You rock into a psychotic slumber
As a faint voice whispers in the distance

Hush, hush
Sweet child

Dear me. A truly sad, heart-wrenching poem. It hurts me to know that people could do this to children. An extremely close friend put up with this torment for many years and it still haunts her to this day. The best I can offer is my love and support for I don't understand how it feels for her to have been treated this way.

I truly hope this young lady can find some comfort and move on with the life she deserves to live so much.

- Stacey
